French power trio Gondhawa are back with TÄKOMĀ, a frenetic blast of oriental psych rock that barrels through microtonal madness and eastern-tinged grooves with unrestrained energy.
It's been a journey since their debut Käampäla dropped on Stolen Body Records in 2021, followed by the Mäanthagorī EP in 2022. In that time, they've become one of the most exciting live acts in the European psych scene—their incendiary KEXP session at Transmusicales 2022 proved that. TÄKOMĀ is their most ambitious statement yet.
Recorded at Studio Adjololo (Tinariwen, Omar Sosa, Tamikrest), mixed by Eliott Achard & Steven Ludard at Studio La Cuve, mastered by Peter Deimel at Black Box Studio. Microtonal guitars, Mongolian sanxian, crushing rhythms—somewhere between King Gizzard's experimental edge, Mdou Moctar's desert fury, and Goat's psychedelic propulsion.
Ten tracks. Direct, effective, rootsy. The band's signature catchy melodies and odd time signatures intact, but sharper.
