Vinnum Sabbathi Announce New EP "Intersatelital" - A Tribute to Mexican Space Exploration
Mexican heavy psych masters Vinnum Sabbathi are set to release their most ambitious work yet with the Intersatelital EP, due June 17th via Stolen Body Records.
Subtitled "Música Espacial Mexicana del Siglo XXI", this three-track exploration delves deep into a pivotal moment in Mexican history - the 1985 launch of the Morelos I & II satellites and the historic space mission of Dr. Rodolfo Neri Vela, Mexico's first astronaut.
"Intersatelital examines the relationship between humans and the machines we've created to aid in our quest for space exploration," the band explains. "We're focusing on this crucial moment when Mexico entered a new era of technology and communications."
The EP's three tracks - "Centro de Control Espacial," "Sistema de Satélites Morelos," and "Rodolfo Neri Vela" - weave together crushing psychedelic soundscapes with actual samples from Dr. Neri Vela himself, creating what the band calls "a sonic testament of intricate human-machine comradeship."
Recorded at Testa Estudio in León, Mexico over two days in April 2024, with additional synthesizer work by Juan Tamayo at The Addendoom, the EP showcases Vinnum Sabbathi's evolution into even heavier, more conceptual territory.
The release comes as limited edition 10" vinyl in two variants - a Deluxe Edition (100 copies) with poster and postcard, and a Limited Edition (200 copies) with postcard. Italian label Teschio Dischi will handle a limited cassette release.
Vinnum Sabbathi will support the release with an extensive European tour this August, including stops in Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
Pre-orders are live now with digital release on June 17th and vinyl shipping in early August.
